A message from Counselor and Theraist Patricia Hecht, M.A., MFTAlmost all of us reach times in our lives when we need the help and guidance of a professional therapist or counselor. I know how important it is to find a therapist you can talk to comfortably. Someone who provides warmth, direction and support as you learn, gain insight and grow. I hope this website provides information that will help you understand the therapeutic process and how I might be able to help you and your family. I believe in a goal-oriented, directive approach to therapy. That means that I get involved in the growth process by analyzing the communication style of the person, couple or family I'm working with. For me, therapy is a partnership. I'm here to help guide the process as we develop more effective strategies for dealing with particular issues and improving results. You can count on me to bring my best to every therapy session. According to my clients, family and friends, I'm intelligent, interested, dedicated, responsible and trustworthy. I feel privileged to have worked in private practice for over 20 years. A note about my education and experience. I completed my undergraduate work in sociology and psychology at Hofstra University in New York, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. I did graduate studies at Adelphi University, Hofstra University, and California State Long Beach in psychology, counseling and gifted special education. I went on to graduate with an master of arts degree in psychology from Pepperdine University. I received my California license as a marriage and family therapist in 1984. From 1984 to 1987, I practiced as senior therapist at the Dr. Tony Grant Institute in Tustin where I was the senior therapist.
